Build a legacy of stewardship

Value-enhancing environmental design

We provide custom environment design and construction solutions that serve three primary goals:

  1. Erosion Control

  2. Wetland Preservation

  3. Wildfire and Flood Resilience

Each project is different, but most projects start with one thing in mind. Water.

Mastering water

Water is everything. The failure to control the flow and storage of water can be catastrophic for the health of our land and the people that depend on it.

At it’s essence, our projects seek to slow the flow of water through proven methods like berms and swales, gabion fences, keyline design, native plant seeding, and micropond construction.

We provide comprehensive design plans and execute these plans in-house - we own the process from start to finish.

Timeless wisdom

The techniques we employ are decades if not centuries old. Many have a legacy we can trace back to dustbowl-era farmers desperate to protect their land and their livelihoods from the harmful effects of drought and soil erosion.

In an age of instant gratification and increasingly short-term thinking, we build environments that will stand the test of time and endure to generations to come.

Slow it down

Why do we want to slow the flow of water? Fast flowing is problematic for two distinct reasons; soil erosion and groundwater depletion.

Did you know Central Texas gets as much rain as Seattle? We just tend to get it a few intense bursts of thunderstorms rather than a steady trickle. Torrents of rainfall wash precious unprotected topsoil off our land, into rivers, and eventually out to the Gulf of Mexico. Loss of topsoil makes plant growth more difficult and eventually results in desertification.

At the same time, fast flowing water doesn’t have time to soak into the ground and recharge our aquifers, resulting in the depletion of groundwater both on our own properties and the region as a whole.

Navigating incentives

Your goals are often aligned with those of federal, state, and local conservation agencies. A variety of cost sharing and reimbursement programs are available to Central Texas land owners undertaking environmental stewardship projects.

We can assist in navigating the web of programs aimed at minimizing the effective cost of our environmental design services.

From wildfire prevention, to erosion control and open space wildlife management, our plans are specifically tailored to comply with programs like:

  1. Texas Parks & Wildlife: Landowner Incentive Program (LIP)

  2. Texas A&M Forest Service: Mechanical Fuel Reduction Grants

  3. TSSWCB: Water Supply Enhancement Program

  4. USDA/NRCS: Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
